| 07.04.2004 Steph (Garmisch, Germany - (USA)) stayed April 5-7, 2004
Having stayed in quite a few eastern European style hotels, I would pick The Ukraina as the best so far. Very clean and comfortable. We stayed on the 22 floor. GREAT VIEW!!! The beds were very comfortable and I loved the super smooth cotton sheets. Room service was surprisingly fast for such a huge place and the waitress very nice and smiley.
The architecture is amazing. We had no problem with security or prostitutes. | | |
| 31.08.2003 Lena (UK) I stayed in the Hotel Ukraina a few times back in 2000. It rates itself as a four-star hotel, if my memory serves me right. Its architecture is truly impressive and fills you with expectations of something grand inside.
The hotel has a dual-pricing system for Russian and foreign guests. Payment by major credit cards (American Express, Visa, MasterCard) is accepted. The Customer Service may often strike you as unfriendly. The rooms are average size, some can be a bit shabby, bathrooms are more or less clean. The card key system is used. If you are lucky, you get a view of the White House (the Parliament) and the River Moskva. A buffet breakfast is quite good.
A male foreigner may find himself answering phone calls by Russian ladies offering their services at night. Or you may be approached in a hotel bar downstairs with offers of the same kind. Something to be aware of!
